AdBlue® for Farm, Forest and Off-Road Machinery
Except for some smaller non-road engines which may not require selective catalytic reduction (SCR), virtually all modern diesel applications – whether on- or off-road – need AdBlue® to operate.
NOx emissions are not only a challenge in road traffic. Cranes and construction site machinery; tractors and combine harvesters; excavators and dumpers; forestry equipment and mining machinery – all such non-road mobile machinery must reduce their exhaust emissions to ensure a safe and healthy working environment for operators.
And regardless of the application, the AdBlue® itself is always the same. Because these machines often work far from roadside fuel stations, they may require remote refilling. Instead of bringing the vehicle to the fuel station, operators must bring the AdBlue® to the site.
AdBlue® consumption will vary with application and load. A rate of 5% to 10% of the diesel consumption is normal. Higher loads like heavy ploughing may result in higher AdBlue® consumption.
Just like trucks, vans and passenger cars, non-road mobile machinery with SCR systems provide several warnings before AdBlue® refilling is required. Operators are alerted multiple times before the tank runs empty.
If AdBlue® does run out, the engine will automatically limit its performance (entering “limp mode”) to keep emissions within legal limits. Once the engine is switched off, it will not restart until AdBlue® is refilled.
Running dry therefore leads directly to operational downtime. Modern non-road mobile machinery equipped with Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) systems need AdBlue® to operate legally and to keep NOx emissions within regulatory limits.
Yara Trusted by farmers worldwide
Farmers and the farming community around the world know Yara as the leader in mineral fertilizers.
Yara is also a pioneer of AdBlue. More than 20 years ago, Yara and key stakeholders came together to turn the vision of cleaner diesel exhaust into reality.
Today Yara is the world’s largest producer of AdBlue® Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF). With five integrated AdBlue production plants around the worldin Europe and North America, some 50 terminals and a growing presence in Asia and South America, Yara is ready to meet the world’s rising demand.
OptiSpray® for low-load operating conditions
Engines that operate intermittently or under low load are prone to deposit formation in the SCR system. This may be especially relevant for many non-road mobile machinery use cases.
OptiSpray® is Yara’s patented solution, designed specifically for these conditions. Developed by the world’s largest producer of AdBlue®, OptiSpray® prevents deposit build-up and keeps your machinery running efficiently.
